Stakeholders meeting in Kampala
On April 20th, 2023, a stakeholder’s meeting was held in Kampala to disseminate the findings on how art and research can be brought together to understand and improve lives of older persons in Uganda. In attendance at the meeting was the Chairman of the Elder’s Forum Uganda Justice James Ogoola who implored the Pictures of Ageing research consortium to broaden its study and share the results with the different policymakers so that proper solutions could be found to the issues that are affecting elderly people.
Exhibition During Cambridge Festival
A presentation of the findings and insights into the Pictures of Aging study during the interdisciplinary Cambridge Festival. It took place in the Oriel Room at Pitt Building, Cambridge on April 3rd, 2022 and showcased works by PoA artists as well as art and craft created by older persons from the Bukusuma community.
Pictures of Aging at IDI @20 Celebrations
The Infectious Diseases Institute celebrated its 20-year anniversary with initial engagements from March 20th to 24th 2023, at the IDI McKinnell Knowledge Centre.
Over the years, IDI has evolved to become a leader in infectious diseases research and capacity development. IDI has established long-term partnerships with stakeholders in Uganda and beyond. The institution has extended its work through diverse programs, such as Prevention Care and Treatment, Research, Training, Laboratory services, Health System Strengthening, Global Health Security, and Health Innovations.
As part of its celebrations, IDI organised a two-day exhibition and the Third Annual Science Fair to highlight the institute's contributions to Uganda's healthcare system and its ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes in Africa.
Pictures of Ageing was featured at the exhibition as one of the projects that have been implemented within the last 20 years at IDI.
The exhibition presenting the Pictures of Aging outcomes opened in Bukusuma
The exhibition of artwork, produced by established artists and older persons during the course of the project was held at Busukuma division HQS on September 20th, 2019. Over 200 older persons, including study participants from the parishes of Wamilongo, Luwunga, Kiwenda, Nabitalo and surrounding areas, attended the event.
